Abstract

Abducens nerve palsy is the most common cranial neuropathy causing diplopia, and it is usually caused by icrovascular ischemia as well as trauma and idiopathic origin. However, it may also occur in association with metastatic tumor. A 70-year-old male presented with horizontal, binocular diplopia that worsened in gaze to the right side. MRI and 11C-ethionine PET/CT of the brain revealed a metastatic tumor in the pons which originated from lung. Although rare, pontine metastasis of lung cancer should be considered as a possible cause of isolated abducens nerve palsy due to abducens fascicular lesions.
